2011 New Design

Now that we have come to 2011 I had to get a new design.

I have been working on this for the past few months as I’ve had a few trouble spots on the old one. The most annoying part on the old one was that I had to do a lot of processes manually, such as pasting images into my posts.
In this new design I automated a lot of the processes which allow me to speed up my posting time. This of course makes it more attractive for me to post more as it is much easier than before.

WordPress is still my first choice as it is a really great CMS.

I’ve deactivated a few of the plugins I was using before. But I also got new plugins to serve a few of my needs.

scissors – This plugin makes it easy for me to cut a thumbnail for the main page (the big one). WordPress would totally mess the thumbnails as it would cut them always from the mid. But I need some individual cuts to make the thumbnail speak for itself. I don’t care a lot if the smaller thumbnails are partly cut as they don’t take such a great emphasis as the big one.

Custom Post Templates – This plugin makes my life easier. I simply created two templates to work for horizontal and vertical images (just have a look at the photo page and click on the title of horizontal and vertical images). I set my templates to fetch the thumbnail in a certain size add the lightbox attribute and even the title into the description. Everything is automated and does not require anything from me than uploading a thumbnail to my post.

The design has also improved. Now my text is much more controlled and easier to read. The overall design did not change at all. I’m still displaying a few things similar as they were executed well enough back in the days. I’ve improved a lot of little mistakes I have had done on the old design.
